Sounds like a great exhibition David, and that catalogue price is phenomenal! I bought a Primavera cloth bag at the Uffizi for about that!

I must admit, I have heard, but don't know much of the Caravaggio arch rival you mention - he seems to have so many! I'll need to read up on that.

I do recognise that town though, the other famous son of Arpino was Cicero!

It's always best to go near the end of exhibitions- they tend to discount catalogues then.

Actually, Caravaggio had many rivals. Baglione might qualify as his greatest foe. I'll do a post on B in a week or so.
