Hungarian artist Bence Hajdu has a new take on the old masters: simply remove the figures and leave the scenery.
So we have David’s “Oath of the Horatii” sans the Horatii; (above) Leonardo without the last supper and so on.
Yet another example of modern art’s engagement with the old masters, which continues to both intrigue and baffle me.
Color me more baffled than intrigued... Aside from Post Modern gamesmanship, what is the purpose of the exercise?
